The TNA Show Wins Silver!

(Ft. Worth, TX) On Saturday night, September 22nd, The Fishbowl Radio Network (fbrn.us) held their 3rd Annual Sharky Awards at the Rose Marine Theater in Ft Worth. FBRN was celebrating their 3rd Anniversary and held an Olympic theme award ceremony where they gave Bronze, Silver, and Gold medals in 20 different categories. Winners were determined by a mix of FBRN hosts ballots, listeners online voting, network crew members, and 10 radio veterans from across the country.

The TNA Show, Turo and Andres with JohnAnthony, accepted a Silver Medal for the 2012 fbrn.us Live Broadcast Remote Of The Year. The award winning event took place at North Oak Cliff Beer and Wine, (1301 W. Davis, Dallas, TX) on February 19, 2012 for the Oak Cliff Mardi Gras Parade. The TNA Show hosted the Remote with other FBRN Shows like Healthy Now, Healthy Later, Universe of the 80's, and Web We Weave.

“It was a surprise to us. We honestly did not expect this and we appreciate the recognition from the listeners, FBRN, and the network owner, Sammi G. 2012 was a good year, and we are looking forward to having a even bigger year in 2013” said Andres Aguilar, on of the hosts of The TNA Show.

Offensive or Not?

There is a great debate online right now over if US Olympian Leo Manzano's celebration of his silver medal was patriotic.  Manzano was the first American to win a medal for the US in the 1500 meter race since 1968, and photos captured him draped with an American flag over his back while carrying a smaller Mexican flag in his hand.

This image was the subject of Ruben Navarette's column, columnist for CNN and other publications.  Navarette stated in his article that for some the image may have warmed their hearts, but for him "...the image didn't warm my heart. It upset my stomach."  Navarette believes the waving of two flags by the Olympian was disrespectful to the US.  You can read the article here, U.S. Olympic athlete, Mexican flag?

A rebuttal to Navarette's CNN article has been published on a site called Latino Rebels.  Latino Rebels states that they "...think that what Manzano did was an expression of his true identity."  You can read more here, In Response to Ruben Navarrette’s CNN Column on Manzano, We Stand With the Traitors

Was this image offensive to you?
