Cowboys demote Monte Kiffin

Cowboys had Kiffin and Marinelli switch roles.  I am okay with this decision.  It allows the defense to still learn from the creator of the Tampa 2 and have a coordinator who can handle the day to coordinator duties.

Also, Callahan is no longer play calling, thank you Jesus.

Jerry Jones Is Angry

Jerry Jones is not happy how the season ended.  But who is?  “Well, I can tell you that change is necessary at 8-8,” said Owner/GM Jerry Jones.  Click here for the Dallas Morning News article.

Norv Turner Returning To The Boys?

 Media reports are that Charger's Head Coach Norv Turner is our the door at the end of the season.  Does open the door for possible reunion between the Dallas Cowboys and the former offensive coordinator.

I, personally, think Garrett's job is safe for at least another year, so we don't have to worry about Turner coming to replace Garrett.  However, we all know Jerry Jones has thing for the good ole days and it would not surprise me if brought Turner back as the offensive coordinator next year.

Over the year's Turner has proven he is a better Coordinator than a Head Coach, so will Jerry write the check?

Cowboy's Tony Romo Tops Troy Aikman

Congratulations to Romo!

Tony Romo passed Hall of Famer Troy Aikman for most TD passes thrown in franchise history. 

Romo finished the night with a total of 3 TD passed - 2 to Dez Bryant, and 1 to Miles Austin. Completed 22 of 27 passes for 303 yards.

Playoff Bound Cowboys?

Is it too soon to say the Dallas Cowboys are playoffs bound?

After beating the Eagles 38-23 in Philly, the Cowboys are looking at a favorable schedule the rest of the way.  It is possible a 9-7 Cowboys team could win the division and go to the playoffs this year.  I know I know, someone check my blue and silver pipe for some of that new Denver Mile High Wacky Tabacky, but look at the rest of the schedule.  Dallas could end up 5-2 the last 7 games of the season.

Week 11 Cleveland (2-7) at Dallas
Week 12 Washington (3-6) at Dallas
Week 13 Phildelphia (3-6) at Dallas
Week 14 Cincinnati (4-5) in Cincinnati
Week 15 Pittsburgh (5-3) at Dallas
Week 16 New Orleans (4-5) at Dallas
Week 17 Washington (3-6) in Washington

The current division leaders, 6-4 NY Giants have a real tough road ahead of them the last 6 games.  Their schedule proposes a real possibility of going 3-3 the last 6 games.

5 out of the last 7 games are at Cowboys Stadium, so Cowboys Fans who are lucky enough to go to the games, please don't wait for an email from Jerry asking you to get loud.  Make some noise!  It is almost Christmas time, let your Blue and Silver Balls hang out!

A quick note to Jerry, you should consider giving some seats away to some rowdy True Blue fans who are watching the game at a bar, home, or in their garage (like me)!  We may not spend hundreds of dollars on some seats, but we lose our voices every Cowboy game!

Okay, I think enough time has passed between now and the Dallas Cowboy's loss to the NY Giants that maybe I can talk a little about it without getting so pissed off.  All Dallas fans saw a repeat of the week before: no defense in the 4th quarter, an offensive driving to get into a game winning field goal situation, and a kicker missing the winning kick after getting iced.  Wow, really?! Two weeks in a row!

It was an interesting game.  I spent the last two minutes of the 4th quarter knelt down in front of the TV trying not to yell so I would not wake up my kids.  The lead changed so many times and the Cowboys were up by 12 points late in the 4th, but the week before played out again.  (Read the first paragraph. It still hurts to explain so I cannot re-type what happened.)  We are in Dallas and we need to find someone or something to blame for this loss to a division rival where we gave up sole ownership of 1st place in our division.

The conversations I have had seem to blame Romo for this loss.  "We will never win anything with Romo as our quarterback" and "Romo sucks" were in the same conversation and uttered by the same person.  Others agree with the sentiment and think Romo is the sole problem of the team.  "He doesn't look like a leader." "He missed a wide open receiver."  "He is too soft."  It makes you wonder if these people are watching the same game I am.  Hatred for Romo is really starting to look like a medical condition.  I will just say they say suffer from "Romo-phobia" for now on.

The Romo-phobes don't seem to understand that when your quarterback leads his offense to 34 points in a game, they should win.  Romo lead the team to 34 points on Sunday.  34 points!  The defense gave up 35 points.  (The offense gave up 2 on the safety)  Why aren't the Romo-phobes pointing the finger at Rob Ryan and his defense or Dave Campo and his secondary?  Seriously, on the last drive it seemed like the Cowboys moved the ball on penalties for the Giants more than Eli Manning did with passes.

What do the Romo-phobes want?  I have an idea.  They want Romo to play pass rusher, safety, corner, and call the defensive plays too because a "real" leader does that.  The fact of the matter is that Romo had a really good game.  He went 21 for 31 with 321 yards.  His QB rating was 141.3 and threw for 4 touchdowns.  4 TOUCHDOWNS.  (OOPS, I AM GETTING MAD AGAIN.  I AM TYPING IN ALL CAPS.  BREATHE BREATH BREathe breathe breathe....That's better) Oh, and about the pass where he missed the wide open receiver? The wide open receiver took the blame because he lost the ball in the lights!

If we want to play fan General Manager (GM), then let's play.  First and foremost, FIRE DAVE CAMPO.  The secondary does not communicate well with each other and the person responsible for the secondary is Dave Campo.  On a lot of plays they look lost and argue with each other about who covers who right up to the snap of the ball.  Secondly, get Ryan the talent he needs in the secondary.  Thirdly, fire Jerry Jones from GM.  He is a great owner and let him focus on that side of the business. It is time for Stephen Jones to step in and run the front office.

Romo-phobes, pay attention to the games and join us Romo-sexuals on Sundays to root for Romo and the Boys.  Who knows you may move on up to being Romo-curious!

Sunday Morning Thoughts of Andres: Real Football

The NFL season is fast approaching and watching Dallas Cowboy's Football is how I like to spend my Sundays. Waiting for the season to start has me thinking about being a kid and loving football.

When I was a kid, (starting a sentence this way is the first sign that I am officially old) I used to play football in the street at my aunt's house. Actually on the concrete and our timeouts were when the cars would come driving down the road and half time was when Tia Lucy said lunch was ready. We dived for catches on the concrete and would slide out of bounds on the gravel. I still missing skin from my elbow and knees. We would put vicious hits on whatever receiver was dumb enough to leap in the air for a catch. There were no roofs and air conditioning units keeping you cool when the other unit is on the field. In fact, there was no other unit, you played offense and defense and everybody who wanted to play was on the field the whole game.

The "football" we are watching now is the wussifcation of the game. Punting and Fieldgoals? In real football you don't kick, you go for it on 4th down every time. These players are wearing pads and helmets with cushion to avoid concussions so they can prolong their career. When we played, we left it all on the line and didn't worry about being able to play next season. They also have this silly rule about pass interference . Pass interference? For us pass interference was when the quarterback throw the ball too high and it got stuck in the oak tree hanging over the street. I am not going to get started on "Late Hits" on the quarterback.

All I am saying is real football players play on concrete, and not on a football field with pads.
